The Forge is open all year round, seven days a week. Our online booking system will show you the availability in real time. Please be aware that weekends should be booked well in advance!

Guidelines for taking part

Our experience day packages are physically demanding and have the potential for minor injury. Therefore, please seek advice from your doctor or our booking team if you’re unsure.

Be sure to dress accordingly, remembering that in the colder months it can get pretty chilly inside the workshop, despite the fires! Please wear long trousers and suitable footwear.

Make sure you follow the guidance on our website and what’s sent to you ahead of the event. And always listen to the instructions of our expert team on the day.

What happens on the day?

1. When You Arrive

Kick off your leatherworking adventure by meeting your tutor. After a warm welcome and introduction to the workshop, you’ll choose your leather colour, hardware, and any personalisation options before getting started.

2. Preparing Your Leather

Learn about the different leathers, tools, and techniques you’ll be using throughout the workshop. Measure, mark, and cut your leather to size, ready to create a collar that’s perfectly suited to your pet.

3. Crafting Your Collar

Now the fun begins! Using traditional leatherworking techniques, you’ll punch, stitch, edge finish, and shape your collar. Our experienced makers will guide you through every step, helping you develop skills that will last long after the workshop.

4. Fitting the Hardware

Assemble your collar using premium solid hardware, fitting the buckle, D-ring, and keeper to create a strong, durable collar that’s built to last.

5. Finishing Touches

Add the final details to make your collar truly unique. Burnish the edges, apply your chosen finish, and personalise it with initials or a name if you’ve selected this option.

6. Photo Time

Celebrate your handcrafted creation! Capture a photo of your finished collar before taking it home, along with the satisfaction of having made something beautiful, practical, and completely your own.
